Title: Typhoon in the Philippines: What the Government is NOT doing!

Description: On Sept. 26th, Typhoon Ondoy struck the Philippines with the heaviest rainfall recorded followed by the worst flooding in 40 years. To date, over 800 people have died and millions of people have been homeless, injured, and have lost all of their belongings. Join PSU Kaibigan and Dr. Claire Oliveros, chair of PCHRP: Portland Committee for Human Rights in the Philippines to learn more about the tragedy and the current Philippine government administration’s unprepared and ill-equipped response to the devastation. Come find out how you can help and make a difference through BALSA: Bayanihan Alay sa Sambayanan (People’s Cooperation for the People). Join us in solidarity to help support the victims of Typhoon Ondoy. Refreshments will be provided.

Mel Orpilla once wrote \”Know History, Know Self. No History, No Self\” Unknown to many people, Filipino American history began on October 1587. Commemorate Filipino American history month by attending the workshop and free food and refreshments will be provided!
